Top 5 New Year’s Movie Scenes

Need an alternative to getting trashed on New Year’s Eve? Let these movies lead the way out of trying to find such an alternative … we all know you’re supposed to trashed on New Year’s Day anyway.

1. Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001): The familiar ache of New Year’s embarrassment

Being a single woman in her 30′s can be embarrassing and awkward, but hell, that ain’t nothing that can’t be fixed with a little Chaka Khan and vodka.

Scene starts at 3:00

2. Trading Places (1983): Speaking proper English on New Years

This clip omits the part where Eddie Murphy says “Thank you for correcting my English which stinks.” Which stinks.

3. The Godfather II (1974): Busted! … on New Year’s Eve

Watching Pacino get all murderous, aggressive, and vengeful-like gets me kinda hot and bothered … which immediately disables my caption writing ability. You’re on your own.

4. Boogie Nights (1997): The New Year is gonna hurt a little

This scene speaks for itself. Having said that, there is no audio on this clip.

5. Rosemary’s Baby (1968): Satanic New Year

I will bypass any mention of the director and carry right on to saying that this scene has everything a spectacular New Year should offer–party hats, old people that like to throw down, evil neighbors, and the spawn of Satan growing in the belly of a woman with a new chic hairdo and a hunger for raw meat.

(Personal note: I ate raw meat once when I was 7 after watching a documentary that showed zookeepers feeding lions uncooked hamburger meat. I liked it. I told my mom and she spanked me. It wasn’t New Years, I wasn’t featured in a movie, and I didn’t turn into a lion like I believed I would, but I thought it was still worth mentioning.)

The scene begins at 5:00
