“Just Go with It” stars Adam Sandler & Jennifer Aniston, two well-known faces in comedy. I got a buzz when I watched my first Adam Sandler movie and for the next two or three films, my laughter never missed a beat with each of his movies having that same level of comic energy. But it got old. Sadly Sandler lost that energy in most of his following appearanceswith the buzz being replaced with buzz kill due to predictable story line, tired jokes, and paper thin characters.

Film Review by Rachael Johnson

The first time I remember seeing Jennifer Aniston was in the TV show “Friends” and I have to say that I loved that show. When I heard about “Just Go with It” I wondered what kind of movie would be born when Adam meets Jennifer… What chemistry would we see, and could the two people make beautiful comedytogether? With Adam & Jennifer having a mid-careercrisis no audience wants to see a stale character old and miserable. Could this movie put spark back into their careers?

OK let’s start with the Movies tag line: “Sometime a guy’s best wingman is a wingwoman”. So here we have it, Jen is going to be Adams “wingman” a cohort to lying and cheating a good looking woman in and out of the bedroom. Not a great start but let’s just go with it…

The movie is about Danny Maccabee (Adam Sandler) a plastic surgeon that pretends he is unhappily married to a cheating wife in order to cover up a lie given to a pretty woman he had spent the night with. But one lie leads to another when his office manager Katherine (Jenifer Aniston) helps cover his tracks by pretending to be his unfaithful wife.

Interestingly (mildly), Adam & Jennifer are obviously comfortable on screen together – the two are off screen friends in real life and this much comes through, but more obvious is the fact that the two are boring people playing dull characters. Jen is average at best; Sandler’s routines show him as a one trick pony.

The good moments in the movie are few and far in between and those where the moments that didn’t include the two stars.Surprise appearance by Nicole Kidman & Dave Matthewsgave mild respite but Nicole isn’t known for her comedic value so the buzz found no way to ignite any laughter.

Overall the movie was how I expected it to be, boring and un-entertaining. If you must see it, catch it on a $1 weekly video rental where you can give the DVD back after watching half of it. BYO pillow.

Find out what's going on with the new Batman movie. Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale join forces again to give us another Dark Knight movie. Find out what villains will be in this one and other casting news ...

Every Batman fan has been waiting in dorky anticipation of the new Batman movie 2011. The news is rolling in faster now as the time approaches. There were rumors of whether Johnny Depp or David Tennant were playing the Riddler. A rumor that the movie would be based on the graphic novel Prey. My favorite rumor so far is that Philip Seymour Hoffman would be playing the Penguin.

Regardless of all the rumors, I’m pretty damn excited about Christopher Nolan’s continuing work with Christian Bale as Batman. Of course, my love for Michael Keaton as Tim Burton’s Batman will never die, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight were bad ass action movies that finally depicted Batman’s dark side.

So, all rumors aside, what’s really going on with the new Batman movie?

Anne Hathaway is Playing Catwoman

I’ve read mixed opinions about Hathaway as Catwoman, but my favorite came from a comment made on a blog in which the commenter makes the point that some thought it was ridiculous to cast Ledger as the Joker. I think you’ll agree the decision was, at least, pretty good.

Tom Hardy is Playing Bane

If you’re not sure who Tom Hardy is, watch this:

If you’re not sure who Bane is, read this: Bane

To me … perfect choice.

This May Not Be The Last Batman Movie For Christian Bale & Christopher Nolan

Though it seems likely they’ll wrap this franchise up as a trilogy, here’s something Christian Bale said that gives Batman fans everywhere some hope about a fourth Batman movie:

All I know is the likelihood that this will be the last one. Well, I wouldn’t say definitely. If Chris goes, “Hey, I’ve got another story I think could be interesting,” then yeah, great, I’d go do that. I always assumed it would be three, but I could be wrong. I don’t know if there’s something wrong with me, but I don’t feel any pressure.

Check back here at filmletes for more information as the time gets closer for the new Batman movie. Be sure to let us know what you think about everything that’s happening in the comments.

I’ll never forget the first time I saw Happy Gilmore. It was a comedy breakthrough for me. Of course, I was only 16, but I won’t lie … I still think it’s hilarious. Adam Sandler has come a long way from then. While he still does comedies, (usually, great comedies) he’s proven to be able to hold his own when it comes to playing a serious role. Here is an Adam Sandler Movies list for you … now you just have to decide which is better: Happy Gilmore or Billy Madison.

Do you love movies? Find out how you can find the best online movie websites with our ultimate movie guide ...

The Internet has made movies much more accessible, as, I’m sure, you already know. Whether you want to know useless facts, what actor played in what movie, or if you want to actually watch a movie, it’s usually just a click away.

Over the years, I’ve loved accumulating knowledge about movies from the Internet. For the past decade I’ve felt ahead when it came to movie news and have also felt enlightened by the many movie reviews and criticisms I’ve read. Not because of any intellectual feat of my own, but because of all the free, quality information you can find online.

So, I give to you, as a generous Filmlete, 101 Movie Websites – The Ultimate Online Movie Guide.

All the sites are organized into categories for your convenience.

Also, I don’t claim to have found every movie site ever needed online. I just tried to find helpful sites that I’ve found very informative and easy to read for me. If you have any more sites you think should be added, please feel free to add them in the comments.

Online Movie Websites – Your Ultimate Movie Guide

Authority Sites

I call them authority sites, but they could just be called, big freakin’ sites about movies. These types of sites have it all. Movie news, movie reviews, movie forums. They’re basically all the other categories all rolled in to one. They can get somewhat overwhelming (which is the reason for this list), so don’t get too frustrated looking through them.

Movie News

While you can get all the movie news you’ll ever need from the above sites, the two listed below are usually where everyone else gets their news. If your looking for the original source of movie news, you will more than likely find them below.

Blogs

Ahhh, blogs. They’re everywhere these days. This list doesn’t even come close to, I’m sure, how many movie blogs are actually out there. If you happen to have your own, please, feel free to add it to the comments…

Watch Movies Online

Let’s face it, watching movies online is, very soon, going to take the place of movie rentals. While there are plenty of places to find movies to watch online that aren’t necessarily legal, we here at Filmletes wanted to give you a list of sites that are absolutely legal, free or paid.

I’ll be honest, I wanted to watch this movie based solely on the fact that Nick Hornby wrote it. He is a genius when it comes to relationships and An Education is a prime example of that.

An Education Movie Synopsis

Jenny (Carey Mulligan) is a intelligent, pretty and talented girl … with a boring future ahead of her. Until she meets David (Peter Sarsgaard), an exciting older man who takes her on adventures she thought she’d never experience and gives her romance she’s only dreamed of. Things are going great and her parents even approve, until everything changes and Jenny’s life takes an unexpected turn.

An Education Movie Review

This movie is refreshing, real – a film of sun and ocean vacationing on our skin. Women, we can all stand beside one another securely connected by the ground beneath our feet – the learning that has taken place in all our lives in one way or another – with great love and respect. We can honor each other in this one thing, at least – that we all attend the school of life. Sometimes the channel of that education is a man and sometimes not, but always it leads to this: it is of the greatest value to value ourselves. How do we value ourselves? Start, at least, with valuing our experiences, our decisions (no matter how foolish they may seem, they are ours to make), and our education – our life education.

My own education was so similar, mainly in essence, to Jenny’s. A man I dropped out of college for taught me so dearly what I did not want. The succulent contrast, the loving pain, the out-schooled education – oh, how I trust the beauty and perfection of my life. I learned what I loathed, what I was not – I flew to what I was and found the forever expanding sun within. The deeper into hell I went created the opposite in measure of heaven. Without the nightmare, bliss would never need to grow so large as to swallow it up – making dream/reality so lush with freedom and love and peace. My life expanded from violence to appreciation, from fear to love, and from complexity to simplicity … and continues to expand even deeper into freedom. How sweet the education – how thoughtful, how kind. I am thankful.

Director: Richard Curtis
Running Time: 116 minutes

I can’t imagine living in a time where music was banned. I can listen to whatever the hell I want to, and, now, thanks to the Internet, whenever I want to. But, to all you young ones out there, believe it or not, there was a time when old grumpy bastards decided what was good for you to listen to … and, unfortunately, what was bad. Then there was the boat that rocked.

Pirate Radio Movie Synopsis

In 1966, there was a boat in the North Sea that played music they weren’t supposed to. The crew was out of control. They had but one mission: have fun and play rock and roll music. Led by Quentin (Bill Nighy), the Count (Philip Seymour Hoffman), Gavin (Rhys Ifans) and Dave (Nick Frost) they caused rock and roll lovers all over to crowd around their radios for the next generation-defining hit. When they face getting shut down, things get a little messy. The whole while though, they make sure to have plenty of fun and play nothing but good rockin’ music.

Pirate Radio Movie Review

If you have not watched this film, watch it and come back later to read this, I’m gonna talk about some events you may not want to know yet. I can find a great moment in almost any movie and this film is no exception. Kenny and I discussed this movie in length and agreed there was something quite magical/spiritual about this particular moment: the ship is sinking and so is DJ Bob. Why? Because DJ Bob won’t let go of his records – his beloved records are drowning him. We liked this. This is how many of us spend our lives. For me, my drowning has been the following: I won’t let go of the past to fully live in the present. I won’t let go of fear to thrive in love. I won’t let go of limiting beliefs/thoughts to exist in joy. I’m certain your drowning is similar.

Well, DJ Bob finally wakes up out of his insanity and releases the heavy record collection saving his own life with, of course, some help from young Carl. But, certainly, Bob can still float to the surface holding at least one record … he can salvage something. When Bob and Carl make it to safety and take a deep breath in – with Bob still holding on to that last beloved record – DJ Dave appears out of nowhere, takes the record from Bob’s grip, throws it back into the water, and says “Oh dear, that is not a good record”.

I love life, it has quite an “all or nothing” nature to it, doesn’t it? Brilliant! But, what is even more brilliant is that DJ Bob didn’t have to do anything. He just simply had to let go and someone else was there to help and encourage with that too. Life was making it clear to let go–there was no agonizing choice or need for analysis. His decision/action was ready-made. And even when Bob couldn’t help but to hang on to one little thing, one small negative belief, one itsy-bitsy painful thought, one tiny fear, one barely there self-criticism, one miniscule resentment; someone in a more stable place came along and got rid of that for him too.

Hooray!

(Personal note: I ate raw meat once when I was 7 after watching a documentary that showed zookeepers feeding lions uncooked hamburger meat. I liked it. I told my mom and she spanked me. It wasn’t New Years, I wasn’t featured in a movie, and I didn’t turn into a lion like I believed I would, but I thought it was still worth mentioning.)

What do you think about when you hear the name Brad Pitt? Brangelina? Most attractive man? Tyler Durden? Whatever it is, you know the name. Brad Pitt is one of the most popular actors today and has been acting since the late ’80s. If you’re looking for the complete Brad Pitt Movies list, you’ve come to the right place.

For the complete Brad Pitt movies list, click here…

Whatever you consider Brad Pitt to be, I hope you’ll agree that, aside from constantly on the cover of the tabloids, he’s also made some pretty darn good movies. As a Filmlete, it is my duty to put those best movies out there, so you can watch them and enjoy them. As a human being with his own opinions, I may not necessarily hit the nail on the head. I’ve chosen movies that have moved me, not only because it was a great movie, but because of Brad Pitt’s performance in them. After watching them (or if you’ve already seen them), let me know if you agree.

Brad Pitt Best Movies

Se7en

Besides having a cool play on letters and numbers in its title, this movie defined Brad Pitt as an A-list actor. Brad Pitt plays a detective who works with William Somerset (Morgan Freeman) who get involved in a series of morbid murders. What’s different about these murders? Each murder corresponds with one of the seven deadly sins, which include: Gluttony, Envy, Lust, Pride, Sloth, Greed and Wrath. The murders lead them both a chase for a disturbed killer with a higher plan. Watch for the suspense, the performances, but mostly, watch it for the end.

Fight Club

I’m not gonna lie … I’ve seen this movie at least 23 times. I loved it. It was unique and manly and had Meatloaf in it. What more could you ask for? Edward Norton and Brad Pitt playing amazing roles in a crazy movie with Helena Bonham Carter as the mentally disturbed love interest, that’s what. Read the book, watch the movie and do it multiple times.

Inglourious Basterds

What happens when you combine the twisted mind of Quenton Tarentino and the wide range and talent of Brad Pitt as an actor. You get Inglourious Basterds. You have to know, that you’ll be getting a big chunk of long, intense dialogue and some unnecessary violence that may not seem like a typical Brad Pitt movie. But as Lt. Aldo Raine, Pitt puts in an amazing performance as the vengeful American who leads his passionate group of Basterds to kill them some Nazis!

Babel

This intense movie has a misleading trailer. Not that you’d think it’s a great movie due to the trailer and it turns out to be a horrible move, it’s just that the movie looks as though it stars Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett. While they have a major role in the theme of the movie, they aren’t in it all that much. However, Brad Pitt’s acting in the movie, in the few scenes he plays, are great. Just a heads up. Maybe if I lower your expectations for the appearance of these two actors, you’ll appreciate the movie more and quit thinking, “hey where’s Brad Pitt?”

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Residue movie! I woke up with it all over me and, naturally, wanted to turn to things frivolous and fun to wash it from me–not because it was a bad movie, but because it was a movie that told a story very well.

Bob Maconel (Christian Slater) is a man who has wiped his thoughts all over his face, his clothing, his work, his world. He is disgusted/ing, he is hated/ing, he is a weakling wanting to make everyone else weak–perhaps as his chance to feel like something other than the target . . . as long as everyone else is the target. Ah, the twists and complications and turns and confusion of thoughts. How easily they show themselves in the frailty of a man’s hair, the stickiness of his skin, the corroding of his misshapen teeth, the coward’s curve of his back and . . . eventually, for a moment, in the elated dance performed between the man and his lawnmower after the sweetness of a kiss.

Bob’s scattered flashes of time spent admiring his hula doll and appreciating the girl who “lights up a room” are just not enough to compensate for all his fantasies of vengeance and miserable reminders (daily gun ritual, bomb detonator, and constant scoldings from boss) of his hate and feelings of powerlessness. Bob Maconel is a man who has forgotten that he holds the power in his life and as a result has succumbed to the false belief that his value and importance are in the careless hands of those who surround him. The last scene even rings the loud truth of how much power he has over his own life.

Review–great movie, but if you’re sensitive it might ruin your great mood. Though, to me, a great look at how we shape our own lives. So, great!
