Who will fill the role in loss?  A father in war–the man who left will never return.  One can not meet his true self in war when the soul lives in peace . . . he must go there.  Peace has an aboriginal nature–it is at its best when it is the root, as the growth is at its best when peace is the root.

Can a brother, a criminal, come into a ready-made home and take over? Is he one that betrays or is he simply–grandly– an aqueduct for love?  Can a father and husband forced into an impossible decision while on a tour of duty ever forgive himself, love himself, and see the truth of who he is–his own greatness?

Does not war start in the mind?  Does it not begin in a simple choice?  War is sometimes found in a  disapproving father–in a man who picks favorites. . .himself being least of all–behind the bottle. War is often found in the suspicion of a wife and in the misunderstanding of a husband.  Is not guilt a carronade in the head . . . bitterness, an assault rifle in the gut . . . fear, a Nordenfelt in the heart?

Can not the war of the mind lead to the war of the home, to the war of nations and then, into cyclic destruction? Is the love of a child who is willing to show vulnerability and a woman willing to know the truth, no matter the horror, enough to break the pattern?  Is a father open to seeing his son in a new light and a brother embracing the glory of being a present and loving uncle enough to begin a new cycle? Is the honesty of a man traumatized by war enough to allow him to act gentle and kind towards himself.  Is love enough?
